Notes & Combos
The list changed during the climb through Master 5 to 1.
Centur-Ion has a tough time into Primite Blue-Eyes / Primite Control. Additionally, with all the Blue-Eyes running around, many lists are maindecking Ogre. Thus, I put in CBTG specifically because of the current format - normally, I prefer hand traps that you can draw into going second.
I also played Centur-Ion mainly in TCG where there's no Maxx C and generic omni-negates (mostly) which is quite different in Master Duel. I saw a different M1 decklist that tried S Poly so I gave it a shot and honestly, it's pretty solid for a couple of reasons: I actually had a fighting chance going second against some decks, and the discard requirement didn't feel too bad going first as you'll have cards to discard (e.g., Gargoyle adding itself back from GY, Primera searching engine, or sometimes your Atrii+Legatia draws into more engine). S Poly is also great as it gives you another body for the Turn 2-3 push: with Garura, even if your Primera gets negated (which often still happens through a half board), you can make Baronne and try to control the game from there, or with Mudragon, extend via Primus. If S Poly is strong in a format, this is something I want to keep using.
The last thing is around Maxx C: Centur-Ion plays well into Fuwalos but I don't think it plays that well into Maxx C. While you could set up an Auxila + Crimson set-up while giving them 2-3 draws under Maxx C, I honestly preferred just passing the turn after they hit me with Maxx C and drew once, depending on my non-engine. I prefer playing the hand trap war and Synchro Summoning Legatia for the draw + 1. But because of this belief, I think outs to Maxx C are still important in Centur-Ion. (But I often will save an Ash on a Fuwalos on most hands, in case they have a Maxx C following it, or just as non-engine for their turn.)
Also, I didn't miss having a 2nd Blazar (I actually had Quasar) as it's quite rare you go into a 2nd Blazar. When you have the opportunity to, you're already in a position where you're winning the game, even without it. In my case, I can go into a 2nd copy of Legatia.
